The Anatomy of a Feeling
by Jackie Woods
Believe it or not, every thought you have has, at its base, is a feeling. It doesn’t matter if the thought is initiated by you or someone else, a feeling will be present. It may be a quiet feeling or a loud feeling, but there will be one. And that feeling will either support love or it will support what you have been programmed to believe is love.
No matter the origin of your thoughts, there will be feelings attending to them. Thus, it is important to know when your lower desires are in charge of your feelings or when your spirit is in charge of your feelings. There is always a choice. So if you want genuine love in your life it is essential to become aware of which part of you is activating your feelings—lower desires or spirit’s love.
When you forget to hand your emotions a love feeling, it is because the programming in your lower mind is telling you that you don’t deserve love. Perhaps your family’s perception of love was to make those around you feel good about themselves. And while that sounds like a good trait, it is only a trait and not a genuine love gift unless your spirit is the one doing the offering, instead of your programming.
Since all your lower mind programming came from others, those thoughts and attached feelings are not the real you. Only your spirit can offer the real you. Along with the real love offering will come the wisdom to recognize the unique specialness of love’s diverse offerings. For instance, your love quality of order might not look like that of your housemate. Their quality of order may manifest as visible stacks while yours may manifest neatly folded in drawers. Wisdom makes room for both.
Spirit freely shares love, and wisdom makes room for it. Then when love is freely shared, the programming that says love is part of a barter system will go away. Love will no longer be seen as a scarce commodity. Becoming aware of the source of feelings (yours and theirs) is the first step in exploring the anatomy of a feeling. The second is letting the wisdom of the higher mind show you how to make space for two diverse feelings so love can be shared. Then once you have mastered these two steps in exploring the anatomy of feelings, love will become a constant companion.
